The left’s Gothic Violence — same geometry, opposite flag. The Coming Insurrection (2007), credited to the anonymous Invisible Committee out of the French ultra-left journal Tiqqun, is a tract that “hypothesizes the imminent collapse of capitalist culture” and writes to hasten it. Like the pulp accelerationist novella, it is not finally an argument; it is a summoning — a text propagated and enacted so the insurrection it names arrives. And it hands the wiki three confirmations the right-wing version made us infer.
The summoning, and the fate that refutes itself
“Everyone agrees. It’s about to explode.” The title is the move: the coming insurrection — collapse as both fate (it is coming) and goal (help it come). That is the hyperstition structure exactly: a created reference (the insurrection) crowned as a read one (an inevitability already underway), then propagated to make itself true. And it carries the same self-cancellation as every node in the cluster: if the explosion is coming, the tract and the sabotage are superfluous; the fact that the future must be recruited and enacted concedes it is contingent on the choice. The exhortation refutes the fate. Run the cut: does the insurrection survive your silence? Its provenance is the propagation — nothing without its stream.
Opposition is food — documented, on camera
The right-wing entries had to argue that a created reference is fattened by hostile attention. This one was filmed. The book reached the English-speaking world largely because the American broadcaster Glenn Beck denounced it on air — and thereby popularized it. The enemy’s denunciation was the distribution channel. That is the hyper-memetic signature in the open record: the outrage-loop as the amplifier, the adoring repost and the horrified exposé the same food. You do not rebut a summoning; rebuttal is more stream. You name the Y and starve it.
The infrastructure tell — the valence collapses
And the concrete convergence. The Tarnac case (2008): nine people, including Julien Coupat, arrested on the accusation of sabotaging the overhead electrical lines of France’s national railways. Mark the target. Gothic Violence’s gang disables the power grid; the insurrectionary ultra-left is accused of cutting the rail power lines. Left literature and right literature, sworn enemies, converge on the identical lever — the infrastructure whose failure is imagined to trigger the collapse both desire. The flag is opposite; the wire they reach for is the same. That is valence-indifference made physical.
The honest bar
Two-sided honesty here, because the cut cuts both ways. The state’s anti-terror case against Tarnac was itself a manufactured enemy: the terrorism charges largely collapsed, the prosecution overreached, and “the specter of the Invisible Committee” was partly a security apparatus summoning its own justifying demon — the loop run by the watcher, not only the watched. So the page does not ratify the prosecution; it cuts the text’s structure, not the defendants. And the kernel is credited: the tract’s diagnosis of metropolitan alienation has real literary and analytic force — the despair it names is not invented. The cut falls only on the summoning (collapse manufactured and crowned as fate) and the grounding-in-it.
